Margie writes: We drove all over Rutherford County on Saturday looking for 4 Batey Cemeteries. We could only find the one on Waldron Road. As with many old cemeteries, neighborhoods are springing up all around these treasured old sites.
I’m not giving up on finding the other cemeteries. We will go back in a few weeks and try to find the others.
We did get into the areas where maps show these cemeteries:
Franklin Pike/Murfreesboro Road – There is a new subdivision right next to where map shows Batey Cemetery to be. Neighbors had not heard of an old cemetery near. Could not get access to old farmhouse next to neighborhood. Will try again at another time.
Rockvale Hwy 96 – ran out of time to find this one…will get on next trip.
